Reynolds Slow Cooker Liners ~ Review & Recipes

Reynolds recently came out with a nifty new product called Reynolds Slow Cooker Liners, which are designed to make cooking with slow cookers/crock pots even easier by eliminating clean-up. 

The simplicity of slow cooking with my crock pot makes it one of the ways I like to cook some of my favorite comfort foods and beverages, as well as keep them warm and bring them to potlucks.  Just put recipe ingredients in the crock pot in the morning, turn it on, set the slow cook setting, and voila - by dinner time a yummy meal is ready. 

So when I learned of Reynolds Slow Cooker Liners and was offered the opportunity to try them and experience how they make slow cooking even simpler I accepted and was sent a complimentary pack of 4 Reynolds Slow Cooker Liners. 

As is often the case whenever I consider trying a new product, some questions came to mind - What are Reynolds Slow Cooker Liners? What are they made of? Are they safe? How much do they cost? Where can I buy them?  So I looked online and found the answers prior to receiving them.... 

WHAT ARE REYNOLDS SLOW COOKER LINERS? 
Reynolds Slow Cooker Liners are clear liners that fit standard sized 3 – 6.5 quart round or oval slow cookers/crock pots, that you place the slow cooker before turning it on and putting in the ingredients.  
WHAT ARE THEY MADE OF? 
The liners are made of a special, high-temperature safe, durable material that's a blend of nylon resins suitable for cooking foods in slow cookers on high, low, or keep warm settings. This material is proven to hold the heartiest of ingredients without breaking or puncturing in the slow cooker.

ARE THEY SAFE?  

According to information on the package and on Reynolds website, these Slow Cooker Liners are BPA-free (bisphenol A) and FDA compliant for cooking. And Reynolds has safely used this blend of nylon resins for over 30 years. 

DO THEY CHANGE THE COOKING TIME? 

No, the cooking time remains the same when using a Slow Cooker Liner. Food cooks thoroughly and evenly.

DO THEY ALTER THE TASTE OF WHAT'S COOKED IN THEM? 

No. I didn't notice any altered taste in the meals I cooked in them.  

HOW MUCH DO THEY COST? 

The lowest price I found is $1.97 for a 4 count pack at Target:

As soon as they arrived I read the instructions on how to use the liners: 

Step 1: Open slow cooker liner and place it inside the slow cooker bowl. Fit the liner snugly against the bottom and sides of the bowl; pull top of liner over rim of bowl. 

Step 2: Place ingredients in slow cooker first, then turn on slow cooker. Place lid on slow cooker. Cook according to recipe. 

Step 3: Carefully remove lid to allow steam to escape. Serve meal directly from slow cooker. 

Step 4: Cool slow cooker completely; remove liner and toss.

  

Then started putting them to use by making some yummy crock pot meals and a side dish.  

First up was my own Simple Homemade Chili, made on my crock pot's high heat setting and turned out great.  

Second was my family's Big Bean Pot recipe, which was made on the low heat setting and turned out yummy.  

And third was the Reynolds Slow Cooker Pot Roast recipe, that's included on the Reynolds Slow Cooker Liners box & in the Reynolds Slow Cooker Liners booklet inside the box as well as on Reynolds website. I made this on the low heat setting according to recipe directions, but I found that the potatoes and carrots weren't done enough by the end of the recipe's cooking time. So I cooked it for 3 more hours.  In the end it turned out well, but when making it again I'll probably cook it on high.  

Overall, the Reynolds Slow Cooker Liners worked well for me.  They're easy to use, the food cooked in them was yummy, and they made clean-up quick and easy. 
I'll definitely use the 4th liner in the package I received and will consider purchasing & using them again.  
And I recommend them to anyone who enjoys slow cooking.
